Welcome to the Tenhaeff Group
Our lab is interested in surface and interfacial phenomena, especially the behavior of polymers on surfaces (e.g. polymeric films and coatings). We develop novel techniques to synthesize thin film materials with exquisite control over polymer composition, structure, and film morphology. Initiated chemical vapor deposition (iCVD) and other vacuum depositoin techiques are platform technologies used by the group. We are also investigating the importance of surface phenomena in lithium ion and lithium metal batteries. An important effort is developing all solid-state lithium metal batteries and hybrid batteries that utilize lithium metal anodes, while eliminating potential hazards associated with combustible liquid electrolytes.

Congratulation to Parinaz Esbah for winning the Award for Interdisciplinary Research at the Steadman Family Postdoctoral Research competition. Her presentation was entitled “Surface science and its application to biomedical and optical coatings." Parinaz was among five finalists who gave three-minute oral presentations to a panel of judges, who weighed not only the scientific merits of the presentations, but the ability to communicate to a general audience. |
